Those with an eye for good design will appreciate this new music stand-mounted mute and accessory shelf (MASU). Designed and built by musician and craftsman Will Nickel, MASU is beautifully engineered and constructed. It provides a handy spot to keep mutes, metronome, reeds, mouthpiece caps and iPhone conveniently within reach.
The clamp provides rock solid support. It will accommodate a post diameter up to 1.2″ and can be attached/removed in seconds. The rubber-coated rail on three sides keeps things in place, and enhances the clean, elegant design. The Plexiglass shelf is practically invisible.
Two sizes are available. The smaller MASU measures 6″ X 11″ inside the rail, easily able to hold four standard trumpet mutes. The larger MASU measures 7″ X 14″, suitable for trombone mutes, or a larger collection of accessories.
Solidly built, MASU is probably not an item you will carry around full-time in your gig bag. It is perfect for the theater pit or teaching/practice studio.
