The Brass Tactics DVD explores the relationship between mind, body and horn. Trumpeter Chase Sanborn focuses on the four parts of the body involved in sound production, and demonstrates how to harness the power of the brain to pull it all together. Chase stresses the importance of becoming an efficient player, and shows how to work with the horn, rather than fighting it. The result is improved sound, range, flexibility, technique and endurance.
A series of special features takes the viewer behind the scenes for a look at the design and manufacture of brass instruments. Chase Sanborn demonstrates a variety of entry-level and professional trumpets and flugelhorns, discussing the various elements that go into the design of a horn. He then plays each instrument with a rhythm section, to compare the sound. An interview with Bob Malone follows, offering insight from one of the great minds in brass design. Finally, trumpeter Jens Lindemann takes you on a whirlwind tour of the Yamaha trumpet factory.
